Don't underestimate the importance of worms in a country child's existence! I kept worms in jars (wormariums), I roasted them on sticks (wormbabs) and ran over them on my bike (squishers. I remember thinking about eating one until I remembered that the neighbour's cat regularly peed in our garden.
Hope the bamboo's working a treat.
